Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Saturday registered a record 21 deaths and 11807 new cases of Covid-19, informed the State Information and Public Relations Department.

With this, the coronavirus death toll in the State surged to 2161 while the total case load jumped to 524207.

The death of 21 more persons in the last 24 hours due to the virus took the total death toll to 2161. Kalahandi witnessed maximum four deaths followed by Sundergarh, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Angul which saw two casualties each.

Similarly, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Kendrapara, Khordha, Nuapada and Puri districts registered one death case each.

The active cases in the State stood at 90335 while 431658 patients have been cured or recovered so far.

Sundargarh reported the highest 1922 cases followed by Khordha at 1510. Similarly, 1052 cases were detected from Cuttack, 560 from Angul, 533 from Sambalpur, 437 from Balangir, 428 from Bargarh, 421 from Jharsuguda, 419 from Nabarangpur and 402 from Kalahandi.

Other districts which detected cases over 100 are Balasore (260), Deogarh (115), Dhenkanal (177), Gajapati (105), Ganjam (341), Jagatsinghpur, (134), Jajpur (302), Kendrapada (145), Keonjhar (231), Koraput (122), Mayurbhanj (175), Nayagarh (204), Nuapada (286), Rayagada (138) and Sonepur (210).

The other districts which detected cases below 100 are Kandhamal (92), Bhadrak (83) and Malkangiri (70).

The State has so far tested a total 1,04,69,081 samples including 50,864 on Friday. Odisha’s positivity rate stands at 5.01 per cent.
