Puri: Odisha Police busted a fake pathology lab for providing illegal Covid-19 test reports at Kakatpur in the district on Friday. Three persons including the owner of the private pathology lab—Prakash Das have been arrested in this connection.

Acting on an allegation by the authority of the local Bangurigaon Community Health Center, a team of Kakatpur police and local Tehsildar raided Maa Diagnostics pathology lab and seized two rapid antigen test kits and many false reports. The owner and his two associates were arrested before the lab was sealed.

According to police sources, the accused had prepared many false reports, on the basis of which many infected people went outside the State. They were collecting hefty amount of money from the people testing Covid-19 infection in their lab.

“After specific inputs, the team raided the spot and arrested the accused. They were not given any permission by the District Health Department to conduct Covid-19 tests and were doing it illegally. We have sealed the lab and seized the kits along with many illegal reports,” said Puri Superintendent of Police Kanwar Vishal Singh.
