Odisha on Tuesday reported its highest toll of 68 deaths due to Covid infection taking the overall number of fatalities to 4,730 in the pandemic. 

The maximum number of 17 fatalities was reported from Khordha district, seven from Ganjam, six each from Bargarh and Mayurbhanj, five from Sundargarh, four from Puri, three each from Angul and Jajpur, two each from Bolangir, Cuttack and Dhenkanal and one each from Balasore, Kandhamal and Nuapada.

“This list does not reflect deaths occurring on a particular day. It gives details of past deaths for which the death audit process has been duly completed and the cause of death has been identified as due to Covid-19,” the State Health department informed through its Twitter page.

The Covid positive tally in Odisha also rose to 9,43,675 after as many as 1,930 people tested positive for the virus on Tuesday.

The active cases in the State reached 23,492 while 9,15,400 patients have recovered, including 2,937 on Monday, from the disease so far.
Of the fresh Covid-19 cases reported from 30 districts, 1,117 are from quarantine centres, while the rest 813 are local contact cases, the data revealed by the I&PR Department stated.

Khordha district reported the highest 431 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Cuttack (220), Balasore (134) and Kendrapara (123).
The State has so far tested over 1,46,41,241 samples for Covid-19, including 72,754 in the last 24 hours.
