The Covid-19 tally in Odisha rose to 8,77,502 on Sunday after 3,577 more people tested positive for the virus, while 42 fresh fatalities due to the infection pushed the State's coronavirus death toll to 3,590, informed the Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department.

Of fresh Covid-19 cases reported from the 30 districts, 2,039 are quarantine cases, while the rest 1,538 are local contact cases, informed the I&PR Department.

Khurda district, which included the capital Bhubaneswar, reported the highest 571 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Cuttack (407), Jajpur (337), Puri (237), Balasore (205), Mayurbhanj (187), Bhadrak (186), Angul (127), Kendrapada (141), Nayagarh (114) and Jagatsinghpur (103). 

Other districts which reported cases below 100 are- Dhenkanal (96), Rayagada (88), Malkangiri (86), Keonjhar (61), Koraput (59), Boudh (59), Nabarangpur (57), Bargarh (51), Sundargarh (43), Kandhamal (41), Kalahandi (41), Balangir (36), Sambalpur (31), Sonepur (29), Gajapati (29), Ganjam (27), Nuapada (19), Jharsuguda (13) and Deogarh (12).

In terms of death, five fatalities each were reported from Bargarh and Cuttack district while four each from Koraput, Rayagada and Mayurbhanj, three each from Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Khordha. Two each deaths were reported from Bolangir, Puri and Sundargarh and one each from Angul, Malkangiri and Nayagarh districts.

With this, Odisha now has 38,727 active cases, while 8,35,132 people have recovered from the disease so far, including 5,281 on Saturday.

The State has so far tested over 1,30,28,817 samples for Covid-19, including 64,112 in the last 24 hours. Odisha's positivity rate stands at 6.71 per cent.
