Eminent Olywood singer Tapu Mishra breathed her last while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the Capital City on Saturday.

Tapu had lent her melodious voice to a number of hit movie songs, albums and bhajans in her career spanning over two decades. Making her debut from Kula Nandan movie, the versatile singer has gone on to spread her magical voice in over 150 films.

Tributes started pouring for the noted singer from all sections of the society including politics, Ollywood and her innumerable fans across Odisha.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP National Vice-President Baijayant Panda and others expressed deep condolences over the sad demise of the popular singer.

 

 

“I am saddened to know about the demise of popular Odia singer Tapu Mishra. She will always be remembered for her great work in Odia songs. Let her soul rest in peace. I extend sympathy to the bereaved family,” tweeted Patnaik.

“I am deeply saddened by the demise of popular Odia singer Tapu Mishra. She had become immensely popular and become a household name in Odisha because of her sweet and melodious voice,” tweeted Pradhan.

 

 

Panda also expressed his deepest condolences. “Deeply saddened by the sad demise of noted Odia singer Tapu Mishra. With her demise, Odisha lost a talented singer. I extend sympathy to the bereaved family. Let her soul rest in peace,” wrote Panda.

 

 

Condolence messages also poured in from several Ollywood personalities.

Actor Sritam Das termed it as a huge personal loss for him and also for the entire Odia cine industry. “Tapu had a fantastic voice and a unique accent of presentation. We have lost a true gem in Tapu’s untimely death,” said Das.

Actor Sabyasachi Mishra took to Twitter to pen an emotional condolence message in memory of the late singer.

 

 

Music Director Prem Anand expressed shock and equal dejection on the passing away of Mishra. "It will remain a big disappointment that we could have done something more to bring her back. It is hard to believe that Tapu is no more with us," said Anand.

Actress Rajeswari said whole Odisha will miss her sweet voice and personality.

“She used to love me a lot. When I was suffering from cancer she had given me a lot of faith and hope. I recovered from the dreaded disease. However, unfortunately she passed away before me. It’s really a shocking news not only for me, but also for the people of Odisha.
