Odisha on Monday reported as many as 10,489 new Covid-19 infections including 982 in the 0-18 age group and three deaths in the last 24 hours, informed the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department.

This is the fifth time in January that the State has registered over 10,000 cases. The State reported 11,177 cases on Sunday, 10,856 cases on Friday, 10273 cases on Thursday and 10059 on Wednesday, respectively, as per the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

Out of the total cases reported today, 6,082 were detected in quarantine while 4,407 are local contact cases, added the I&PR department.

Meanwhile, Khordha district reported maximum 2,934  cases, followed by Sundergarh (1447),  Cuttack (786) and Balasore (433).

Sambalpur (387), Mayurbhanj (383), Rayagada (253), Bolangir (238), Jharsuguda (225), Jagatsinghpur (207), Puri (198), Jajpur (195), Nayagarh (193), Bargarh (166), Kalahandi (163), Sonepur (163), Koraput (162), Nabarangpur (159), Angul (158), Bhadrak (118), Gajapati (109), Nuapada (108), Keonjhar (105), Ganjam (92), Kendrapara (90), Boudh (85), Dhenkanal (70), Kandhamal (56), Malkangiri (55), Deogarh (44) and State (707).

In terms of deaths, two fatalities have been reported from Bhubaneswar in Khordha district while one death from Angul district, as per the H&FW Department.

With this, the cumulative Covid-19 positive tally in the State has surged to 11,44,401 so far while the death toll has gone up to 8,484. A total of 10,60,067 people have recovered from the infection. The active cases have now gone up to 75,797.

Odisha so far has tested 2,67,01,571 samples, including 70,117 in the last 24 hours, for Covid-19.
