For the third consecutive day, the daily cases of Covid-19 infections crossed the 10,000 mark in Odisha this year. As per the data shared by the I&PR department, 10,856 new cases of Covid-19 infections were reported from different parts of the State in the past 24 hours.

Of the 10,856 new cases, 1021 infections have been reported in the 0-18 age group.

Khordha district topped the chart with highest 3087 Covid-19 cases, followed by Sundergarh (1943), Cuttack (909), Sambalpur (500) and Mayurbhanj district reported 376 new Covid-19 cases.

On January 13 this year, the Covid-19 daily count in Odisha had breached 10,000-mark for the first time in nearly eight months. As many as 10,059 new cases, including 872 in the 0 to 18 years age group, and three deaths were reported in the State on the day.

The State had reported 10273 new Covid-19 cases on January 14,2022.

It is pertinent to mention here that Odisha is currently witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases, including Omicron (new variant) cases for the past few weeks. With 10,856 new Covid-19 cases, the State’s positive tally has reached 11,22,735.

The Covid-19 active cases tally now stands at 61,809 while 10,52,395 patients have recovered from the virus.
