The Covid-19 daily count in Odisha jumped 10,000-mark for the second day with 10,273 infections, including 1,065 cases from 0 to 18 years age group, and four deaths on Friday, as per State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

The State had yesterday recorded 10,059 cases , including 872 cases from 0 to 18 years age group, and three deaths.

Out of the total cases reported today, 5,962 were detected in quarantine while 4,311 are local contact cases, said I&PR department.

Meanwhile, Khordha district reported maximum 3,496 cases, followed by Sundergarh (1049),  Cuttack (844) and Sambalpur (529).

Cases in other districts: 

Balasore (457), Mayurbhanj (340), Puri (269), Kalahandi (203), Jharsuguda (202), Bolangir (191), Koraput (186), Rayagada (183), Jajpur (143), Jagatsinghpur (132), Sonepur (132), Gajapati (126), Nabarangpur (125), Nayagarh (121), Keonjhar (114), Bargarh (102), Bhadrak (102), Angul (85), Kendrapara (74), Dhenkanal (69), Ganjam (55), Nuapada (45), Malkangiri (30), Kandhamal (26), Boudh (24), Deogarh (23) and State Pool (796).

In terms of deaths, one death each has been reported from Cuttack, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur and Sundargarh districts, as per the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department.

With this, the cumulative Covid-19 positive tally in the State has surged to 11,11,879 so far while the death toll has gone up to 8,476. A total of 10,50,179 people have recovered from the infection. The active cases have now gone up to 53,171.

Odisha so far has tested 26,479,398 samples, including 75,731 in the last 24 hours, for Covid-19 while the test positivity rate stood 13.5 per cent in the State.

On the other hand, In a bid to decongest hospitals and ensure that healthcare personnel as well as non-Covid patients do not get infected, the Odisha health department on Thursday issued a set of guidelines for the facilities.
