A pal of gloom engulfed Durgadevipada village under Rajkanika block of Kendrapara district after Sanjay Kumar Nayak, who had tied the knot on May 9, passed away at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on the 5th day of his marriage.

Sources said, Nayak, who worked with a private organisation in Bengaluru, had returned home on May 1 to get married. However, upon his arrival in Odisha, he developed fever.

As per his family members, Nayak had undergone a COVID Rapid Antigen Test and the report came negative. But, after marriage, his health condition deteriorated further following which, he was taken to Jajpur Medical for treatment.
Upon referral by the doctor in Jajpur, Nayak was rushed to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar where he succumbed while undergoing treatment.

Speaking to OTV, one of Nayak’s relatives said, “He was a good lad. We never thought that something like this could happen to him. His RAT report came negative. So we thought, it could be common cold.”

However, later it was found that Nayak was infected with COVID-19 and even before he could begin his new life, the virus took away his life.
