The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to fix separate time slots for the administration of first and second doses of Covid-19 vaccines.

BMC Commissioner Sanjay Singh said a notification regarding the revised time slots for first and second doses will be issued soon.

“At present, youngsters who have taken their first doses are being administered second doses on the due dates. The backlog for the second dose of vaccine has almost been cleared. The remaining backlog will be cleared by Monday. Subsequently, we will open slots for 18-44 age groups,” Singh told mediapersons here today.

“From Tuesday, we will make arraignments for administering 1st dose to 18-44 age group in the first half of the day while 18-44 as well as 45 plus will get second dose in the second half of the day at all centres across the city,” Singh added.

Singh urged the city-dwellers to follow Covid-19 safety protocols during the festivities.

“Sabitri Brata was celebrated yesterday and a few days are left for Raja festival. Although the number of Covid-19 cases is declining, I still request all Bhubaneswar residents not to forget all the restrictions. It is not the time to lower our guard,” he said.

“We are hopeful that if all cooperate, we can see substantial improvement in the Covid-19 situation in the city in the coming weeks,” he added.
