Odisha has been witnessing a spike in Covid-19 cases in the last couple of days. As per the latest update, a doctor is among three persons at the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar to have tested positive for Covid.

Along with the doctor, a pharmacist and a manager at the hospital have been infected with the virus. All of them have been kept in isolation as per the existing protocol, said officials at the Capital Hospital on Thursday.

In a related development, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today declared five more places as ‘Containment Zones’ following detection of new Covid-19 cases. With this, nine places have been declared containment zones in the city on Thursday. Earlier in the day, the civic body had clamped similar restrictions at four more places.

On Wednesday, the BMC had declared ten places in the city as containment zones.

It is pertinent to mention here that 1,897 new Covid-19 cases were reported from different parts of the State in the last 24 hours. Of the total 1,897 new cases, Khordha district reported the maximum 669 fresh cases.
