Bhubaneswar: Steep rise in the number of daily Covid-19 positive cases in the State capital continue to rise with the city recording the highest single-day surge of 1353 fresh cases in the last 24 hours on Sunday

With the inclusion of the new cases, the active caseload in the Capital city climbed to 12,906. Out of the new cases, 218 persons are in quarantine while the rest 1135 are local contact cases.

Maximum of 45 cases each have been reported from Khandagiri, Dumduma and Laxmisagar areas followed by Jharapada with 37 cases.

As many as 30 fresh cases each have been detected from Chandrasekharpur. While Baramunda saw 28 cases, Niladri Vihar and Unit-8 areas registered 25 cases each.

 

Baragada, Jaydev Vihar and Mancheswar reported 22, 20 and 16 cases respectively. Madhusudan Nagar also registered 16 cases.

Similarly, Patia reported as many as 14 cases during that period.

Meanwhile, as many as 938 patients have recovered during that time.

The death toll due to Covid-19 has reached 293.

So far, 61,634 COVID positive cases have been detected in the city out of which 49,224 have recovered. As many as 12,906 patients are currently undergoing treatment.
