Odia sculptors arrive at Bhubaneswar airport

Sculptors from Odisha who were engaged in the construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya have started coming home on Tuesday after the Pran Pratishtha ceremony. Six Odia artisans arrived at Bhubaneswar airport this evening after staying there for a long time. They played an important role in the construction of the long-awaited abode for Lord Ram.
Their chisels have given magical touches to lifeless stone blocks and created delicate carvings and floral designs on the temple walls, arches and pillars.

On arrival at Bhubaneswar, they waxed eloquent on Purusottam Lord Ram and His magnificent temple. They narrated the experiences they gained during the construction work.

OTV spoke to some of the sculptors about their work experience at Ayodhya. Sculptor Subrat Moharana said, “Significantly, the 500-year wait for an abode of Lord Ram came to an end. Lord Ram made His homecoming which has given us immense joy.“

He also said, ”I feel very proud of being a part of the determination ‘mandir wohin banayenge’. Over 150 Odia sculptors were engaged in the temple construction. Many had returned home just before the consecration ceremony. We got VIP passes to stay back."

He further stated that except for Ram Lalla, all the Odia sculptors there were engaged in various components of the temple construction. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi showered flowers on the artisans. We were present then,” he added.

Hrudananda Moharana, a sculptor of Baulagadia in Balasore, said, “The joy that we had on the occasion of Pran Pratishta of Ram Lalla and being part of the grand temple construction is beyond words. A group of 80 people worked there. We carved out images of Lord Shiva, Ganesh and Hanuman on the temple pillars. Besides, we have chiseled elephants out of stone blocks which have been installed around the temple and etched arch designs.”

Another sculptor expressed his joy and felt privileged to be a part of the temple construction and the Pran Pratishtha.

“I had never thought that I would get an opportunity to work for the Ayodhya Ram Mandir.  It happened because of God’s blessings on us. Perhaps, God wanted our artisan skills to be utilized for temple construction. We are indebted to Ram Lalla for this. Most of the sculptors were from Odisha while a negligible number of artisans were from Karnataka.
