In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly jumped into the Jalaput water reservoir from a bridge in Champaput area, under Padua Police limits in Koraput district, in front of her husband following an argument, on Saturday.
As per reports, the woman, identified as Padma Khara, was on her way to back home along with her husband from a relative's house in Pujariguda after performing Dussehra Puja. However, following a brief argument with her husband over a minor issue, she jumped off the bridge into the reservoir.
The helpless man immediately informed his relatives about the incident and also intimated the Fire Brigade seeking help. A team of Fire personnel and officials from Padua police station reached the spot immediately and launched a search operation.

As per last reports, though the rescue team is still to find the missing woman though the searches are still on.
It is worth mentioning here that following heavy rainfall in the region, the reservoir is filled with water for which it is posing a huge challenge for the rescue team to trace the woman.
As informed by Nandapur SDPO, the search operation is on and the rescue team is trying to trace the missing woman. “With the fall of night, it will become difficult for the present team to continue the rescue operation. Under such circumstances, a team of ODRAF will be arriving soon,” he added.
A pal of gloom has descended in the area following the tragic incident as the woman has left behind three little children.
