Bollywood’s powerhouse performer, Vidya Balan, has long been celebrated for redefining female representation on screen. With her unmatched blend of strength, vulnerability, and emotional depth, she has inspired a new generation of storytellers and performers. Now, the acclaimed actress is ready to add another feather to her illustrious cap - her much-awaited Tamil debut alongside none other than Superstar Rajinikanth in Jailer 2.

A Dream Debut with Rajinikanth

According to an exclusive Hindustan Times report, Vidya Balan will share the screen with Rajinikanth (74) in Jailer 2. The report confirms that the 46-year-old actress is indeed part of the project. After her brief cameo in Nerkonda Paarvai (2019), Jailer 2 will mark her full-fledged Tamil debut.

Reportedly, the film has already completed more than half its shoot.

Inside Details from the Set

A source close to the production revealed, “Vidya plays the role of (actor) Mithun Chakraborty’s eldest daughter. Mithun is the leading antagonist in the film and will be seen alongside (actor) Rajinikanth sir.”

The insider also added, “The film is currently being shot in Chennai and will move into post-production by January.”

Once the Chennai schedule wraps up, the team will head to Goa for the final two-month shooting phase, expected to begin in late October.

The Road to Release

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 is one of the most awaited sequels in recent memory. The makers are reportedly targeting an August 2026 release.

While Vidya and her team have remained tight-lipped, a representative from the film stated, “It’s too early to say anything.”

Vidya’s Recent Work

Vidya Balan was last seen in the 2024 film Bhool Bhulaiyaa, where she reprised her iconic dual roles of Mallika and Manjulika. With Jailer 2, she’s set to captivate audiences across linguistic boundaries once again - this time in the Tamil film industry.
