Tere Naam remains one of the most iconic films in Salman Khan’s career. Released in 2003, the romantic drama, directed by the late Satish Kaushik, saw Salman sharing the screen with Bhumika Chawla. Over two decades later, producer Sajid Nadiadwala is reportedly gearing up to bring the magic back with a Tere Naam sequel.

Tere Naam Sequel in the Making
While the idea of a second installment first surfaced in 2020, Sajid is now said to be in advanced talks to acquire the franchise rights, currently held by the original producers, Sunil Manchanda and Mukesh Talreja.
Furthermore, the buzz also suggests that Salman Khan may reprise his iconic role in the sequel. The producer aims to retain the soul of the original while introducing a fresh pairing to appeal to contemporary audiences.
According to a Mid-Day report, a source revealed, "Once the legal and financial packaging is done, they’ll lock in Salman and only then announce a director. A tentative script is being worked upon."
Depending on Salman’s involvement- whether he returns as the original character or a new avatar- a new lead could be introduced to complement the story.
The discussions are said to be in full swing, with Sajid reportedly looking to “own the IP for creative freedom.” The intention is to position the sequel as a legacy revival, blending the nostalgia of the 2003 classic with modern sensibilities to resonate with today’s audience.
Salman Khan’s Consideration
Regarding the actor’s participation, the source added, "Salman has heard about it. But nothing has been officially offered yet; he needs to see a workable script, budget, and the [division] of rights. He is not one to commit before clarity." Well, fans will have to wait until the legal and creative frameworks are finalized before any official announcement.
