(image) Los Angeles: Henry Cavill, who is all set to turn Superman in an upcoming project, has got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Ellen Whitaker.
The 28-year-old popped the question to the British athlete while they were visiting Hollywood. The actor has even sought permission from Whitaker`s father, reported People magazine.
"I couldn`t believe it when he asked me to marry him. I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy," said Whitaker.
Cavill has appeared in the movies like `The Count of Monte Cristo` and `Stardust`. The actor will be seen in the thriller `The Cold Day of Light` and `Immortals`.
