The anticipation for Kalki 2898 AD is slowly peaking up after the makers unveiled the look of Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama a few days ago. Importantly, the AI-generated de-aged version of Big B became extremely popular within a few hours of the release of its teaser. The clip shows Ashwatthama with most of his face and body covered in rags with a blood spot on his forehead and blood on his stomach.
The shooting for Kalki 2898 AD started in 2021 during the Corona pandemic times when there were strong restrictions and everyone around had to put on masks compulsorily and maintain social distancing as much as possible. Now a young makeup artist Sonal Sethia who first worked on the Don actor has shared a little backstory on her social media page.
In her post, she penned, “My first day on a movie set as a makeup artist (day one of Kalki 2898 AD) created this wound on @amitabhbachchan and now here it is in this intro as Ashwatthama.” In a follow-up tweet she says, “We were all in masks in 2021. Mr. Bachchan had no clue I was working on him, so in 2023 I got an opportunity to introduce myself to him and tell him my story. He was literally my first hero on the movie set.”
Sonal has also shared a short video clip that shows her introducing herself to Amitabh Bachchan as the makeup artist who worked on him on day one of the Kalki 2898 AD shoot. This Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani-led movie is all set to release this year.
There are strong speculations that the makers are planning to release the movie on June 27, 2024, but there is no official confirmation. Current hype and excitement for this Nag Ashwin-helmed movie indicate that Kalki 2898 AD is sure to get a very good opening across the country.
