Audience Response: Style, Action and Shahid’s Intensity

Audience reactions have largely praised the film’s stylised storytelling, Bhardwaj’s moody treatment, and its fusion of romance with gritty crime drama. Many viewers have singled out Shahid Kapoor’s portrayal of gangster Ustara - a former gang member forced into exile after killing a don’s brother - as one of the film’s biggest strengths.

His emotionally layered performance, coupled with high-octane action sequences, has resonated strongly with fans.

Triptii Dimri’s performance as Afsha Qureshi aka Rani Sharma has also been appreciated for adding emotional depth to the narrative.

Hrithik Roshan Applauds Shahid Kapoor

Amid the film’s steady run, Hrithik Roshan took to X to express his admiration for Shahid’s performance. He wrote, "The quirkiness of #ORomeo eventually wins you over. I had fun. @shahidkapoor, you do this genre BEST. Too good you are. Go watch it in the theatres, guys. Also, that running in circles action was brilliant." (sic)

Hrithik’s endorsement has further amplified the buzz around O’Romeo, reinforcing Shahid Kapoor’s reputation for excelling in intense, genre-driven roles.

However, Duggu’s appreciation post did not go unnoticed - and certainly not unquestioned. His glowing words for O’Romeo quickly sparked a wave of reactions online, with many users drawing comparisons to his earlier review of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar.

Several netizens revisited his response to the political action drama and pointed out the contrast.

One user wrote, "So you liked this pathetic movie but hated the dhurandhar." (sic)

Another comment read, "I hope you are not praising this just because of paid promotion… especially since you hated Dharundhar, which was actually a masterclass." (sic)

Adding a layer of sarcasm, a third user remarked, "Hope the politics in the movie was to your taste." (sic)

Meanwhile, Shahid reacted to the post and wrote, "Brother saw you debut like a boss when I was still in college and you hit me like lightning. Been loving you since your first. This feels special. Big love so happy you enjoyed the film." (sic)
