The road to Don 3 has been anything but steady. Spearheaded by filmmaker Farhan Akhtar, the third installment aimed to reinvent the iconic franchise with Ranveer Singh stepping into the shoes of the suave anti-hero.
However, Singh’s exit from the project ignited a public fallout. Production house Excel Entertainment, led by Akhtar and Ritesh Sidwani, reportedly cited a staggering ₹40 crore loss following the actor’s departure.

On the other hand, Singh countered the claims, alleging unprofessional conduct and a lack of commitment from the banner. He maintained that repeated production delays ultimately pushed him to reconsider his association with the film.
Media chatter further suggested that during a challenging phase in Singh’s career, the makers explored alternatives - including the possibility of approaching Hrithik Roshan.
Hrithik Roshan Sets the Record Straight!
Amid swirling speculation, Roshan has now addressed the controversy. In a recent exclusive interaction with Variety India, the actor firmly dismissed the rumours of his involvement with the project.
The report quoted Duggu as saying, "What started off as just a rumour has now taken a life of its own, and it’s important to set the record straight. I would like to categorically clarify that I was never approached for 'Don 3' at any given time. I request the media to steer clear of any such unverified reports.”
With this categorical denial, Roshan has effectively put an end to the speculation surrounding his supposed casting.

A Project Plagued by Delays
Originally unveiled in August 2023 with Singh as the new-age Don, the film faced multiple setbacks from the outset. It was later expected to commence shooting in January this year, with Kriti Sanon as the female lead.
Yet, just weeks before production was set to begin, Ranveer Singh exited the venture - leaving the franchise at a crossroads once again.
