Gardening is a game changer . Planting a seed can bring change . "Eat Healthy” we hear this far too many times … but I am telling you "Grow Healthy” is even more simpler . All it takes is a little time and a little effort . And since 2020 still needs us to 'Stay home and stay safe ‘ I think we can manage . Change any unused space in your home into an edible garden . Your terrace , balcony , window sill etc… over the next few weeks let’s grow together, share our experiences, learn from our mistakes and by the end of it be proud that we can feed ourselves . And god forbid if there is ever another lockdown we will not be the ones running to the store panic buying .. because in the words of Ron Finley we would be 'Gangsta Gardeners’ by then … so who’s with me 💚… #GrowWithMe

#Throwback to when we were plucking fruits from the star fruit tree in our garden barely a month ago. It’s truly a special feeling to know that what you are eating is ‘clean’ pesticide-free and grown with love. Today, I’m grateful for Mother Nature’s beautiful and bountiful ways… how she provides for us and makes sure we are taken care of. When we take care of her and even when we don’t sometimes 🙈 she’s always got our back, unconditionally. Look forward to the days when we’ll be free from the clutches of this pandemic enveloping us. Then, it’ll be our time to give back to nature… the respect she rightfully deserves hoping we have realised the value of Mother Nature. . . . . . #20DaysOfGratefulness #Day20 #stayhome #staysafe #stayindoors #gratitude #IndiaFightsCorona #MotherNature #throwbackthursday #tbt

In one of her posts, the actress can be seen teaching her son how to pluck brinjals from her home garden. She writes, “One of the greater joys of life is to see your efforts coming to fruition in this circle of life; whether it is about starting a new venture, seeing your child grow up or just the plants you nurture bearing vegetables and fruits for you to enjoy. Planted these seeds in pots a few months ago and was thrilled to see brinjals and chilies ready to be harvested.”

She further adds, “As they say, what you sow, so you shall reap. Clean organic produce. Same with your thoughts actually think clean and positive; and the fruits those thoughts manifest into will be beautiful. C’est la vie!” Interestingly the Dhadkan actress has even turned a vegetarian amid lockdown with the aim to reduce her carbon footprint.

Ahh! My ultimate dream, to grow my own, but for now… I have something to share. Since I’ve shared many milestones here, this is something… that’s a very personal choice, a hard decision for me; seemed impossible at one time, but it felt like a ‘calling’ of sorts. The shift happened gradually and NOW, I have accepted “vegetarianism” completely. Primarily, because I wanted to reduce my carbon footprint in the environment. Over the years, I’ve realised that cultivating livestock for food, has not only destroyed forests but also been the largest sources of carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous-oxide emissions. These are majorly responsible for the climate change our planet is experiencing. Also, following a vegetarian diet is not only beneficial for animals, but also can actually protect us from heart disease, diabetes, obesity, can improve & also reverse cardiovascular health, and some major diseases. It’s the best change for OUR health and the health of the PLANET. So, to give back to nature as best as I can, here’s a choice I’ve made for myself. Given my roots (Mangalorean), our diet always comprised of certain elements, meals would often feel incomplete without fish/ chicken as they became habits, then becoming an addiction. But ever since I adopted Yoga as a way of life, I always felt incomplete. I needed to step up… 45 years into this journey of life, and I’ve finally made the switch. In the past, being a hardcore non-vegetarian, even my YouTube channel has a lot of non-vegetarian recipes! I WON’T be deleting any of those, as they have been shot but going forward I WILL be focusing mainly on the vegetarian recipes. You all are and have been my extended family & my well-wishers for so many years, hence keeping you posted, about this important step. Every CHOICE has a CONSEQUENCE, make sure you make the right one 🙏 With Gratitude, Shilpa Shetty Kundra ❤️🙏🏻🧿 . . . . #SwasthRahoMastRaho #vegetarian #gratitude #health #planet #change #choice #eatclean #mondaymotivation
