Ranbir Kapoor is once again dominating the chatter around Bollywood, thanks to two of the most anticipated projects on the horizon- Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, featuring Yash, Sunny Deol and Sai Pallavi, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. After the success of Animal (2023), fans have been eager to see RK on the big screen again. With Ramayana: Part One wrapped, the actor is now immersed in Love & War, and the leaked on-set photos have only intensified the frenzy.

A Family Celebration Sparks Unexpected Controversy
Amid the growing buzz around his upcoming films, Ranbir appeared in Dining with the Kapoors, a documentary-style special that captures a warm, celebratory lunch hosted by the Kapoor family in honour of Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary. The episode offers a rare look at Ranbir in his most candid, relaxed avatar.
However, what began as a wholesome family moment soon snowballed into an online debate. Viewers alleged that Ranbir indulged in non-vegetarian dishes- such as fish curry, junglee mutton and paya- served during the feast, leading to a wave of criticism across social platforms.
Scenes That Triggered the Backlash
In the footage, Armaan Jain is seen serving Fish Curry Rice and Junglee Mutton to the Kapoor clan. Ranbir, seated next to Neetu Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Rima Jain, Saif Ali Khan and others, appears part of the family-style meal.
Though the camera never clearly focuses on his plate, many netizens believe he partook in the non-vegetarian fare.

Why the Internet Is Calling Him Out?
The backlash stems from speculation last year suggesting that Ranbir had abandoned non-vegetarian food and alcohol in preparation for portraying Lord Rama in Ramayana. Reports claimed he had embraced a disciplined sattvic lifestyle while prepping for the role.

These conversations resurfaced particularly because the actor had once referred to himself as a “big beef guy,” a statement from an old interview that repeatedly resurfaces during online debates.
With the new dining clip circulating, some viewers accuse him of contradicting the very lifestyle transformation his team supposedly promoted.
Social Media Reacts: Sharp, Sarcastic and Unforgiving
The criticism online has been swift and pointed, with many users calling out what they believe to be exaggerated claims.
One viral post stated: “Ranbir Kapoor’s PR team claimed he gave up non vegetarian food out of respect for playing Lord Ram in the Ramayana movie but he is seen enjoying fish curry, mutton, and paya with his family. Ranbir Kapoor has the most effective PR in Bollywood. #DiningWithTheKapoors." (sic)

Another user slammed the alleged PR strategy: “I think PR teams of Bollywood actors should be fired, especially that of RK and Alia Bhatt. They don’t do an ounce of research of past videos of their clients before posting such stupidity. On top of that, give such exaggerated claims and all. What was the need to make claims of leaving non-veg and drinks for the role? Who asked? If they had kept their mouth shut at that time, they wouldn’t be facing this unnecessary heat at present." A third comment poked fun at his film title, quipping: “Ranbir to PR: Tu jhooti main makkaar.” (sic)
