Ranbir Kapoor reportedly underwent a strict personal transformation for his role as Lord Rama in Ramayana- abstaining from alcohol and non-vegetarian food to embody the divine character’s purity. Now, Ranbir Kapoor's Love & War co-star Vicky Kaushal appears to be treading a similar spiritual path for his next epic, Mahavatar, based on the life of Lord Parashurama.

Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik Reunite with Vicky Kaushal
Producer Dinesh Vijan is collaborating once again with Vicky Kaushal for this grand-scale venture. Mahavatar, helmed by Stree 2 director Amar Kaushik, aims to depict the extraordinary life and journey of the Chiranjeevi warrior-sage, Lord Parashurama.
Kaushal and Kaushik’s Lifestyle Commitment to The Project
While the project is deep in development, reports suggest that both Vicky Kaushal and Amar Kaushik have chosen to make profound personal changes to prepare for the film. According to Bollywood Hungama, the duo has decided to give up non-vegetarian food and alcohol during the film’s preparation phase.
Vicky reportedly plans to adopt these restrictions once filming for Love & War concludes, mirroring Ranbir Kapoor’s disciplined approach. This is seen as a symbolic act of reverence for the role of Lord Parashurama.
A source close to the production revealed, "A film of this magnitude demands total focus, and Vicky and Amar are fully invested in making this a truly extraordinary spectacle for the audience. As part of their preparation, they have chosen to quit non-veg food and will mark the start of their journey with a grand pooja ceremony in the middle of next year."

A Cinematic Spectacle in The Making
Mahavatar is expected to begin shooting by late 2026, with a tentative release planned for 2028. Given its massive scale, the film will reportedly undergo a year-long shoot, followed by six months of intensive post-production and VFX work to craft the mythical world of Parashurama. With meticulous planning and deep personal dedication from its team, Mahavatar is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious and spiritually charged projects in Indian cinema.
