Actor-turned-politician Nusrat Jahan time and again has found herself at the target of the trolls. Recently, she was once again at the receiving end of threats on social media after she posted a photograph posing as Goddess Durga in traditional attire.

The Bengali actor, who had left for London to shoot for an upcoming film project, then sought additional security from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) after the death threats were made.

Nusrat Jahan had earlier took to Instagram to share the images of her being dressed as Goddess Durga on the occasion of Mahalaya. Later, she also posted the BTS of a shoot as she posed with a Trishul in her hand. However, the post wasn’t received well by religious extremists who objected to a Muslim woman posing as a Hindu deity.

This is not the first time that the actor has faced such outrage as earlier, Mufti Azad Wasmi of Darul Uloom Deoband had slammed her embracing Hindu culture. He had issued a fatwa against her for marrying a Hindu man and wearing sindoor and mangal sutra.

Last Month, the TMC MP had lodged a police complaint against a dating app company for using her name and picture for advertising purposes without her consent. This was after an advertisement came to her notice that was being circulated on Facebook using her picture in an unauthorized manner.

Her complaint letter read, “The advertisement is malicious and erring in nature. It is completely unacceptable on my behalf. I would request your kind self to kindly treat this mail as an official complaint from my side and take necessary legal measures against the company/brand and other concerned stakeholders,”
