What began as a quiet early morning at Zurich airport turned into a story straight out of a comedy reel for singer Monali Thakur. A split-second mistake led her to do the unthinkable- climb into a stinky airport bin to retrieve something precious.

The Ring That Slipped Away

Monali took to social media to narrate the bizarre incident through a candid video. Recounting the moment, she says, "I'm in Zurich. And I was going to throw my garbage in the dustbin at the airport. And while I was throwing the garbage, my beautiful... The one I wear all the time is my diamond ring. It fell inside the garbage. So, basically, I'm going to get inside this too because there's nobody. It's early in the morning. It's 4 a.m. Nobody's here. I don't even know how to get into it. Should I go inside the garbage? I'm going to try and capture this."

With the airport nearly deserted and panic setting in, Monali decided to act rather than wait.

An Unpleasant Mission, A Happy Ending

The singer revealed that getting into the bin was far from easy. Sharing the struggle, she added, "I can't even open this. It's so heavy. I don't even know what's on me right now. But screw it. These guys helped me get into it. I actually got into that bin, and I took out this ring."

Thankfully, a few helpful strangers came to her rescue, assisting her in opening the bin and ensuring the diamond ring was recovered- safe, intact, and very much back where it belonged.
