Dhanush revisits Varanasi with Kriti Sanon and Aanand L Rai, relives Kundan’s magic before Tere Ishk Mein; check pics

As Dhanush gears up for the release of Tere Ishk Mein, his third collaboration with filmmaker Aanand L Rai, he finds himself back in the city that changed everything- Varanasi. Their journey began with Raanjhanaa, where Dhanush immortalised the role of the spirited Banarasi boy, Kundan. More than a decade later, the actor reveals that people in Varanasi still recognise him as that beloved character.

During his recent promotional visit, Dhanush shared that the connection refuses to fade. The actor posted glimpses from his trip on Instagram, reflecting how the city still greets him as Kundan.

Walking the Same Lanes, Reliving the Same Magic

Dhanush posted several stills- strolling along the ghats, walking through narrow lanes with Aanand L Rai, or quietly enjoying chai at familiar corners.

Capturing his nostalgia, he wrote, “A walk through the memory lane Where it all started. KUNDAN. A character that refuses to let go of me, even after more than a decade. The Name Kundan still echoes in the narrow lanes of banaras as people call out to me and I still turn and smile.” (sic)

He continued, “Now walking through the same lanes , sitting in front of the same house , sipping chai from the same tea shop , and walking by the shores of the holy Ganges , with the man who gave me Kundan , feels like a full circle. Now it’s time for Shankar. Tere ishk mein … FROM TOM. Har Har Mahadev.” (sic)

On Wednesday, Dhanush shared another set of pictures featuring his co-star Kriti Sanon and director Aanand L Rai. In one frame, he sits calm and composed with his eyes closed, while other photos capture candid behind-the-scenes moments from their journey.

The caption read, "BANARAS The world is a better place when you are at his feet. Har Har Mahadev." (sic)

Tere Ishk Mein: A Full-Circle Collaboration

Aanand L Rai announced Tere Ishk Mein on the 10th anniversary of Raanjhanaa. The film stars Dhanush alongside Kriti Sanon and is backed by an impressive lineup of producers- Aanand L Rai, Himanshu Sharma, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar under the banners of T-Series, Gulshan Kumar, and Colour Yellow Productions. With music by AR Rahman, the film hits theatres on November 28.
