Why Dhanush Again? The Hidden Reason Behind Rai’s Casting

The burning question remains: Why did Anand L. Rai pick Dhanush not once but twice- for Raanjhanaa and now Tere Ishk Mein? Both films feature protagonists ruled by fierce emotions. But while Kundan from Raanjhanaa was youthful, impulsive, and reckless in his passion, Shankar in Tere Ishk Mein is a weathered Air Force officer weighed down by regret and haunting memories.

Dhanush Reveals the Moment of Truth

During a recent promotional event, Dhanush opened up about the surprising- and unintentionally hilarious- answer he received when he asked Rai why he keeps getting chosen for such roles.

In a viral clip from the event, Dhanush recalls, "I asked the director, 'Why you keep calling me for roles like these..?' He looked at my face. I think it's Kriti or Anand, one of them told me, 'You have a Great love failure face...'"

Kriti Sanon, standing beside him, jumped in with a playful remark: "A heartbroken man..."

Dhanush continued, "That day I went back and kept looking at my face in the mirror... 'What is in about me...' I took it as a compliment but it is very challenging to role, it's Raanjhanaa or this (Tere Ishk Mein), very challenging role. Both, looks simple... In Raanjhanaa, it looks simple but it's not, very complicated part to play. Little bit this way or that way, you end up not liking him. So, lot of precautions, lot of practice, homework had to be done because it was a very tricky part to play Kundan actually. So, likewise, Shankar is very easy to like, but he has own challenges, which I can't say much now."

Release Countdown Begins

Tere Ishk Mein is slated to release worldwide on November 28, 2025, and with the buzz already intensifying, expectations are sky-high for this tragic, emotionally charged romance.
