Tamil superstar Dhanush surprised many with his revelation at the audio launch of his upcoming film Idli Kadai in Chennai. The Kubera star recalled how, as a child, he used to sell flowers to earn pocket money to buy idlis. Sharing these memories, he revealed that they also inspired him to title his latest directorial venture Idli Kadai. The actor-filmmaker recently addressed doubts over how he could struggle financially despite being director Kasthuri Raja’s son.

Dhanush Clarifies His Childhood Struggles
Addressing the doubts of many who wondered why he would face such hardships despite being the son of a filmmaker, Dhanush explained, “I was born in 1983, before my father made his first movie in 1991 (En Rasavin Manasile). He has four kids, and the budget at home was always tight. Educating us was the top priority, and we had to work for our pocket money. It was only around 1995 that we became stable financially and had a good lifestyle.”
Notably, in 1996, his father Kasthuri Raja turned producer with Nattupura Pattu, which he also directed. More recently, he produced Dhanush’s directorial Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam, featuring Dhanush’s nephew Pavish in the lead role.

About Idli Kadai
Idli Kadai marks Dhanush’s fourth directorial after Pa Paandi, Raayan, and Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam. The film features a stellar cast including Nithya Menen, Shalini Pandey, Arun Vijay, Rajkiran, Sathyaraj, Samuthirakani, Parthiban, and others. Apart from directing, Dhanush also plays the lead role and has produced the film under Wunderbar Studio in association with Aakash Bhaskaran of Dawn Pictures. The music is composed by GV Prakash. The film is set to release in theatres on October 1.
