“I Never Thought I’d Come Back to This Role”

Opening up about her comeback, Shilpa Shinde reflected on the long gap and the unpredictability of an actor’s journey. She admitted that returning to the show was something she never anticipated.

"10 years is a very long journey. Not just 10 years, even 20 years can pass because I never thought that I would come back or do this role again," Shilpa told ANI.

She further spoke about the challenges of survival in the entertainment industry and how her return feels earned rather than accidental.

"In this kind of industry, it's very difficult to carve out a place for yourself. And today, if Bhabhi Ji 2.0 has Shilpa Shinde in it, then obviously I have earned that. And today, I am back for the audience, so that they can be happy and fulfill the desires they had that were unfulfilled. I will complete them," she added.

From Controversy to Comeback

Angoori Bhabi was originally portrayed by Shilpa Shinde before she exited the show in 2016 following a major controversy. The role was then taken over by Shubhangi Atre, who went on to play the character for nearly a decade.

With Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! 2.0, Shilpa has now reclaimed the role, replacing Shubhangi once again. Naturally, this transition has sparked curiosity, prompting Shilpa to address Shubhangi Atre’s long-standing portrayal of the character.

Shilpa Shinde on Shubhangi Atre’s Portrayal

During a recent interview with Telly Chakkar, Shilpa was asked to share her thoughts on Shubhangi as an actress. She responded candidly, acknowledging Shubhangi’s effort while also pointing out the complexities of comedy and character replication.

"Dekhiye as an actor, maine us waqt bhi bola tha jab controversy chal rahi thi, very frankly, usne kaam kiya hai achha. Achhi actress hai but comedy sabke bas ki baat nahi hai. Aur uske baad kisiko copy karna, wo bohot mushkil hai, bohot pressure hota hai," she said.

Shilpa further explained that portraying an already-established character comes with immense pressure, especially when audiences are deeply attached to the original version.

“Copy Karne Se Fame Nahi Milta”

Expanding on her views, Shilpa Shinde stated that originality plays a crucial role in achieving lasting popularity. According to her, even strong performances can fall short if they lack individuality.
