YRF Shuts Down OTT Buzz
Recent industry reports claimed that YRF had sealed a staggering ₹215 crore deal with Netflix India for a straight-to-digital premiere. However, the production house has categorically dismissed these claims.
As quoted in reports, the official statement reads: “Alpha is going to stream directly (is a rumor that) aims at putting a heroine-fronted film in an unflattering light. Yash Raj Films will never put films from its theatrical slate directly to streaming. We are a studio that takes immense pride in making cinematic experiences. Alpha is a tentpole movie for the company.”
The message is unequivocal- Alpha belongs on the big screen.
A Grand Vision Led by Powerful Performances!
Reaffirming its faith in the project, YRF further stated, “Alpha is our attempt in trying to mount something incredibly special. With one of the finest actors of our country, Alia Bhatt, headlining the film, along with another brilliant young actor, Sharvari. We are hopeful that we have made a good film in Alpha and it will entertain everyone and prove that audiences will give the same amount of love to this film as they shower upon other action movies.”
The studio’s stance reflects confidence not just in the film’s scale, but in its leading women anchoring a major action spectacle.

Release Shift and Spy Universe Connect
Originally scheduled for December 2025, Alpha has been postponed to April 17, 2026, reportedly to refine its visual effects. Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film was first teased in the post-credit scene of War 2, where Bobby Deol made a cameo- cementing its place within YRF’s expanding Spy Universe.
With OTT speculation laid to rest, Alpha now marches toward theatres, carrying both intrigue and towering expectations.
