Actress Kajol recently grabbed headlines with her bold statement on marriage during the chat show Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle. Following her viral remark, her husband, actor Ajay Devgn, has now shared his candid perspective on modern relationships, reflecting that “love has lost its meaning” during a recent chat with his De De Pyaar De 2 and Shaitaan co-star R. Madhavan.

Kajol's Bold Theory on Marriage
Notably, in the This or That segment, when host Twinkle Khanna asked, “Should marriage have an expiry date and a renewal option?”, Kajol confidently agreed.
Stepping into the green zone, she explained, “I definitely think so. What guarantees that you’ll marry the right person at the right time? A renewal option would make sense and if there’s an expiry date, no one has to suffer for too long.”
Her candid response instantly went viral, sparking mixed reactions - while some praised her honesty, others found the idea too radical.
Ajay Devgn Reflects on How Love Has Changed Over Time
Soon after Kajol’s statement made headlines, her husband Ajay Devgn shared his own perspective on modern relationships.
During an interview with R. Madhavan on BookMyShow’s YouTube channel while promoting De De Pyaar De 2, Ajay opened up about how the meaning of love has evolved- and, in his view, faded.
“From what I see, it has become more casual than it was. The word ‘love’ has been used so much unnecessarily that it has lost its meaning. In our generation, saying ‘I love you’ was a big deal. Now people don’t understand the depth of that word, it’s overused,” Ajay said.
Madhavan agreed with him, adding, “Even when we had to sign a card with ‘love,’ we took it seriously.”
To this, Ajay quipped, “Now every message has a heart emoji or ends with ‘love.’”
Kajol and Ajay: Still Going Strong
Despite their differing takes, Kajol and Ajay Devgn’s relationship remains one of Bollywood’s most stable and admired marriages. The two met on the sets of the 1995 film Hulchul, where friendship gradually blossomed into love.

After nearly four years of dating, they tied the knot on February 24, 1999, in a private ceremony away from the media glare. Over two decades later, the couple continues to balance stardom and family life, raising their two children - Nysa and Yug - with warmth and mutual respect.
