Bhubaneswar: Railway Minister Piyush Goyal's drive to ensure that the train passengers are being served with the best possible food continues with the minister recently announcing 'no bill no pay' formula for the national carrier's commuters.
Tightening noose on the IRCTC's operation (catering service), Goyal recently at an Indian Chamber of Commerce event in Kolkata said passengers should ask for bills from railway catering staff being equipped with point-of-sale machines for the purpose, PTI reported.
"Demand a bill from the railway catering staff. If no bill is given, then refuse to pay. My officers will deal with the matter," he said.
Goyal further said that an announcement in this regard would be made soon and all the staff of the catering service would be provided with POS machines.
In other news, the Railway's catering arm today ordered an enquiry into a complaint by a passenger of the 12246 Yeswantpur-Howrah Duronto Express about the quality of food served to him in the train.

Earlier, IRCTC had reportedly denied to renew its contract with the company responsible for supplying food in Puri-Sealdah Duronto Express after passengers complained of “undercooked” food served by the onboard caterer.
