Cairo/Washington: US and UK have launched Tomahawk missiles on Libyan defence targets in Tripoli and along the Mediterranean coast, shortly after French warplanes flew over Benghazi to enforce the no-fly zone in the strife-torn African nation.

More than 110 Tomahawk missiles, fired from American and British ships and submarines, hit about 20 Libyan air and missile defence targets, US Navy Vice Adm William Gortney said at a Pentagon briefing.
