New York: US prosecutors have said the evidence collected in the case of former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn was “consistent with a non-consensual encounter” but decided to drop the charges of sexual assault because they could not prove it was forced and the woman told too many lies.

In the fullest official account yet of what happened on May 14, prosecutors said physical evidence did not conclusively prove allegations that the then IMF chief sexually assaulted Nafissatou Diallo, a 32-year-old Guinean immigrant working as a maid at the Manhattan Sofitel hotel.
