Paris: French President Francois Hollande formally declared a state of emergency following a series of six attacks here which left at least 127 people dead and over 200 injured.
The emergency was declared during a cabinet meeting at the Elysee palace, the official residence of Hollande, on Friday night, a media report said.
The state of emergency allows authorities to prevent the movement of people and vehicles at specific times and places.
They can also define protected areas and safety areas where the movement of persons is controlled.
