Islamabad: Pakistan has stepped up security for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after learning that the Indian intelligence agency RAW was trying to assassinate him, the media said on Sunday.

The Punjab Home Department had issued a high alert to security institutions "over an assassination threat to Sharif from the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW)", The News International said.
