London: A Lithuanian national charged with the murder of Indian-origin Avtar Singh Kolar and his English wife Carole was today remanded to custody and the date for the trial was fixed as August 28. The bodies of the Kolar couple were found by their police officer son, Jason Kolar, on January 11 in their home in Handsworth Wood, Birmingham.

The West Midlands Police had launched a major probe in the sensational case under `Operation Tiler`. Rimvydas Liorancas, 37, who appeared before the Birmingham Crown Court for about 15 minutes, was required to enter a plea to the murders. He listened to the court proceedings via an interpreter and spoke to confirm his name. Liorancas was ordered to reappear in court for a plea hearing on May 25 and a trial date was fixed for August 28.
