"The tentatively scheduled informal briefing of the executive board has been postponed pending further developments in New York," IMF spokesman William Murray said in a statement yesterday.
He did not offer any details.
Strauss-Kahn was arrested yesterday and charged with a sexual assault and attempted rape on a chambermaid in the luxury Sofitel hotel in New York, near Times Square.
The 62-year-old IMF chief was expected to be arraigned before a New York judge later Sunday.
The IMF announced earlier that John Lipsky, its first deputy managing director, had been appointed acting managing director while Strauss-Kahn was outside Washington.
It also said that Nemat Shafik, the deputy managing director who oversees the IMF`s work in several European Union countries, will attend Monday`s Eurogroup meeting in Brussels instead of Strauss-Kahn.
