The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the low pressure area is likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a depression over central parts of South Bay of Bengal around November 19.
Low Pressure Forms Over BoB
As predicted, a low-pressure area has formed over the Southeast Bay of Bengal (BoB) and adjoining north Andaman Sea on Thursday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the low pressure area is likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a depression over central parts of South Bay of Bengal around November 19.
“The system is further likely to move towards North Tamil Nadu and Puducherry-South AP during the next three days,” said IMD.
Widespread rainfall with heavy rainfall likely at isolated places very likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on November 17 2022. Strong surface winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph) also likely to prevail over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on November 17 and 18.
Widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Coastal Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on November 20 and 21 and over south Coastal Andhra Pradesh on November 21, 2022.
Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph likely to prevail over Andaman Sea & adjoining Southeast & Eastcentral Bay of Bengal on November 17; over Southeast Bay of Bengal adjoining Andaman Sea and adjoining areas of Southwest & Eastcentral Bay of Bengal on November 18; Southwest and adjoining Southeast & Westcentral Bay of Bengal and along & off Sri Lanka coast on November 19; Southwest & adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal, along & off south Andhra Pradesh-TamilnaduPuducherry-Sri Lanka coasts from November 20 to forenoon of November 22, 2022.
