MBBS craze: 24-year-old amputates own leg to secure seat under Disability Quota!
In a shocking case, a 24-year-old man allegedly amputated his own leg in an attempt to fraudulently secure admission to an MBBS course under the disability quota. The accused, identified as Suraj Bhaskar, reportedly fabricated an assault narrative to justify the injury, but the plan unravelled during a police investigation.
According to police officials, Suraj claimed that he had lost his leg following a violent attack. However, inconsistencies in his statements raised suspicion, prompting a deeper probe.
Girlfriend Rats Him
The investigation took a dramatic turn after his girlfriend reportedly informed the authorities about the real sequence of events, revealing that the injury was self-inflicted and part of a calculated attempt to gain a reservation kept for disabled candidates.

During a search, police recovered anaesthesia-related materials and surgical tools, suggesting that the amputation had been carried out deliberately by him. Medical experts were consulted as part of the investigation to establish the nature and timing of the injury.
No Girlfriend, No MBBS, No Leg
Following the revelations, Suraj’s admission prospects were immediately cancelled, and authorities informed the concerned medical institutions.
The case has sparked widespread debate over the intense competition for MBBS seats and the psychological toll it takes on aspirants. Experts and educators have reiterated the need for stronger counselling mechanisms and ethical safeguards in competitive examinations.
Now, Suraj faces legal consequences, having lost not only his chance to pursue a medical career but also his girlfriend, who revealed the truth to the police and, tragically, his leg.
