A rare and mesmerising sighting has taken social media by storm after a video surfaced showing a rare spot-bellied eagle-owl, known as the 'Ghost of the Forest,' in Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand.
The clip, shared widely on X (formerly Twitter), shows the striking and elusive bird moving silently through the jungle landscape, captivating wildlife lovers across India and beyond.
The footage, reportedly recorded deep inside the park’s dense forests near Ramnagar, showcases the rare bird species resting calmly among the trees.

Experts and wildlife enthusiasts have pointed out in comments that such moments are extremely rare. Jim Corbett National Park, India’s oldest and one of its most biodiverse tiger reserves, is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including tigers, leopards, elephants and numerous bird species.

Jim Corbett National Park, named after the famed hunter-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett, covers sprawling terrain of sal forests, grasslands and riverine belts that support some of India’s most iconic species.
