The rare sighting has drawn praise from internet users, with many noting how unusual and special it is to see the big cats in such numbers and at close range.
'Ghosts of the Mountains'
Snow leopards, often called the “ghosts of the mountains” due to their secretive nature and excellent camouflage, are notoriously difficult to spot in the wild. Their habitat spans the trans-Himalayan region, including parts of Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.
Experts and wildlife lovers say that such sightings can be interpreted as positive indicators of a healthy ecosystem, reflecting minimal human disturbance and successful conservation efforts in the region.
The viral video not only showcases one of the most majestic predators of the high mountains but also draws attention to the fragile yet resilient biodiversity thriving even in some of the world’s harshest environments.
