Junior Teachers Launch Protest Outside Odisha Assembly

Thousands of junior teachers staged a protest outside the State Assembly in Bhubaneswar on Monday (Nov 29) ahead of the winter session, demanding the government to pay heed to their demands. The junior teachers demanded their base salary to be increased to Rs 16,000 along with their appointment as ‘initial appointee’ by the government.

Citing that the contractual teachers have been given the status of ‘initial appointee’ and their salaries have been increased by 50 percent, the junior teachers alleged that even though they have joined service since 2015, their salary has not been increased.
