There are two antique idols of Lord Buddha.They were buried in sand under Baitarani River water in Bhadrak district.
However, locals stumbled upon these idols while lifting sand from the river bed. It is believed that both the sculptures date back to around the 8th century and are made of Khondalite stone.
Pritam Mohanty, a native of Mudhipada village under Bhandaripokhari along with another villager found these two idols. The idols have been handed over to a local museum.
