Iceland has declared a state of emergency at the world-famous Blue Lagoon Geothermal Pool which is known for providing a warm spa like comfort. The announcement came after around 1400 earthquakes hit Iceland’s Reykjanes (rekanes) Peninsula in a span of 24 hours starting from midday on Thursday to first 14 hours of Friday. Seven of the earthquakes were of magnitude around 4 with the most severe quake registered with magnitude of 4.8. The epicentres were situated at different points between Eldvorp to east of the Blue Lagoon that is around 8000 kms. The local authorities have issued evacuation orders for thousands living in the southwestern town of Grindavík (Krintavik) as a precaution where the quakes occurred within a minimal frequency.
