Odisha government has issued a fresh circular for the functioning of the Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) in the state. This order comes ahead of the online exams for Undergraduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) final semester students.

Writing to all Vice Chancellors and principals of various degree colleges, the department has instructed all teaching and non-teaching staff to return to work from July 6. Moreover, the 50 per cent Roster Attendance System which was introduced for teaching and non-teaching staff for the Covid-19 pandemic effective from April 19 has been withdrawn.

The letter stated that due to thin attendance of employees for almost two and a half months, a lot of important work is currently pending. Additionally, the conduct and publication of results for the online exams for UG/ PG final semester students also needs to be done at the earliest. The circular further instructed all the returning employees to strictly adhere to Covid-19 prevention protocols.

As per the letter, the Odisha government’s order regarding closure of Government Offices on Saturdays is not applicable to Higher Educational Institutions. However, these institutions will remain closed on Saturdays provided there is Covid-19 related shutdown declared in that district/town/city.
