These twins who are just three and a half months old have been given a big responsibility. They have been inducted as Daitapati servitors of Lord Jagannath in Puri Srimandir. Daitatpatis are the group of servitors engaged in the service of lord Jagannath & the sibling deities.
Rohit Nanda Das Mohapatra and Ronit Nanda Das Mohapatra, also known as Jaga & Balia, have been engaged in the holy service of the Lord Jagannath. As per the tradition, when a child is born in a Daitapati family and the 21st day rituals are completed, then the child is inducted as Daitapati during the Anasara period of the Holy Trinity.
On Thursday, these young Daitapatis were inducted into the service of Lord Jagannath after the traditional rituals. With this induction they are now a part of the Daitapati Nijog.
