Ho Van Lang, the real-life Tarzan, who had lived with his father and brother in a jungle in Vietnam for over 40 years, died on Monday (Sept 13) after battling liver cancer.
Lang had returned back to the civilization eight years ago, after spending, almost all of his life, in the deep forest of the Tay Tra district in Quang Ngai province of Vietnam. Reports said that Lang's father had fled with Lang and his brother after their family was killed by a US bomb during the Vietnam war in 1972.
The three of them had since then lived in complete isolation and survived on fruits, honey and animals for survival. But in 2013 the trio was 'rescued' from their isolated life and brought to a local village to take care of Lang's then-ailing father, who passed away in 2017 due to some unreported causes.
Then in 2015, Lang met Alvaro Cerezo, who quickly became his friend. After Lang's death, Cerezo revealed to media (Mercury Press) that the trappings of the civilized world with the processed food and alcohol had taken a toll on Lang's health, causing his early demise.
