Odisha School and Mass Education Department has allowed junior colleges two additional days for applying for seat extension for the academic session of 2021-22. As per the letter, from the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education, the portal for online application will be opened on July 27 from 10:30 AM till July 28 at 12 PM. In a letter addressed to the Principals of all Higher Secondary Schools, the state government gave two additional days to Higher Education Institutions with requisite infrastructure to apply for seat extension.

The applications are to be made online on the SAMS Portal for increasing the number of seats at their institution. The letter stated that the state government decided to extend the deadline after many principals of Higher Secondary Education Schools requested for an extension. The move to increase intake in Plus-2 comes after the publication of Class 10 results, where the state recorded a higher pass percentage.

After concerns were raised on seat shortage to accommodate higher number of students entering the Plus-2 stage, Odisha Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash assured that seats will be extended if a situation of seat shortage arises in the state.
