With COVID19 pandemic hitting the world hard, work-from-home has sort of become the new normal. However, miscreants are misusing this trend to exploit vulnerable job seekers.

A message reportedly doing rounds on WhatsApp messaging platform is misleading job seekers with fake claims. Central Government’s fact checker account, PIB Fact Check, on Monday (August 23) flagged the message as FAKE. The message doing rounds made fake claims about work-from-home jobs being provided by a certain organisation in collaboration with the Government of India.

The fraudulent message claimed that there is a new money-making model and people can register by paying Rs 50 and start working with a start-up capital of Rs 350 and a mobile phone. It claimed that Rs 2000 to Rs 10,000 can be earned daily which can be withdrawn daily. After the message started doing rounds, PIB Fact Check tweeted an alert terming the claim fake. PIB said that the WhatsApp message that Government of India, in collaboration with an organization, is providing work from home opportunities is a fake one.

The PIF Fact Check handle tweeted that no such announcement has been made by the Government of India and warned people to not engage with such fraudulent links.
